The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has enacted on July 11, 2016, PSM Standard 29 CFR 1910.119 which mandates that all Petroleum Refineries enact and document “Recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices (RAGAGEP)” related to both operation and maintenance of Petroleum Refineries. API 579, Fitness-For-Service has become the de-facto RAGAGEP technology to address the new OSHA mandate. Thus, documented compliance to API 579, Part 3 brittle fracture assessments is now required by OSHA.
